My Ride: SOLD...Jet Black 2008 550i M Sport with SAT, black interior. RPI exhaust and air scoop, 35% huper optik tint all around, CF roundels, flat black kidneys, Springfield Armory XD-40 jet black in glove box, charcoal filter removed.
Default

Part of the reason I went with Huper Optik tint - 100% ceramic, classic looking, and thick as hell. It really wasn't that much more expensive either - paid $375 for all but the front window and sun roof. Mine is 35%, and actually tint for windows in a house or business. No issues with windows working or getting stuck or anything either. Awesome tint in my opinion, very classy looking and will NOT interfere with radar detector, key fob, or wireless TPMS or radio signals.

Check it out if you are worried.

5% - Holy Crap!!! How do you see out at night!! My girlfriend's tint is darker than mine and I hate backing up in her car.

Years of having dark tint... Years ago, I had my accord doubled in 5%, but that was only in the rear though since it was a coupe.
You'll see it at the meet.

Nice, looking forward to it. I would also like to see how you got your V1 mounted behind the tint. I have one of those Cobra XRS 7 remote radar detectors. Ever since I removed it from my FX35 I haven't been able to mount it back in the window without the hot sun of South Florida melting the adhesive. So, I created a bridge over my dash to mount it low. I know it's better to be up high and I hear (know) the V1 is probably better. We'll see.

Nice read. My tint guy said the carbon film I have should be fine. Told me to stay away from the metal based films.

I know what you mean...I had it mounted to the rearview mirror of my FX.

Is it 3M Scotchtint Colorstable? If so then it's metal free and you're good to go.

"3M's non-metallic nano-carbon polyester window film that is 100% guaranteed never to interfere with your GPS, satellite radio or cell phone reception. 3M?s patented nano-carbon and polyester micro-layer technology rivals any non-metallic ceramic film available on the market today."

Sounds like it's equivalent to ceramic tint.
