Better fuel economy should also even out if there is a price increase. especially with the direction gas has been going.

How many of you can honestly say that BMW has always had reliable engines that just got developed...remember the old days when the m54 was first used...there were recalls and repairs galore.? Remember the m3 engines over-reving and blowing...just a couple thing to ponder about fot those of you whining about 255hp.? Just wait til Dec '06, when this form gets hit with..."my car is at the dealer again..."

NO WORRIES MATE!!!! I think most new engines are fairly reliable regardless of manufacturer. There's a warranty anyway and R6 design seems fairly similar to the current valvetronic engine save the electric fan. I'm interested and am deciding to R6 or 545.

Just spoke to a dealer here in Westchester and they said production numbers are already being sold for the 530 with the R6 and/or xDrive for March build. They expect to see a $2,000 to $2,500 price for the xDrive and a price increase of $1,000 or more for the base car because of the R6. I will let you guys no if i find anything else as i plan to see my dealer tomorrow.

"Valvetronic (variable valves and electronics) is a valve drive system with fully-variable lift control of the intake valves (with lift varying from 0 - 9.7 mm). Unlike all other petrol engines, it does not require a throttle butterfly, and engine output is controlled entirely by fully variable intake valves which regulate the amount of air (volume control) and reduce power loss considerably. For BMW drivers, Valvetronic technology means lower fuel consumption and exhaust emissions, while at the same time improving performance and engine smoothness."
