Absolutley!! Dual in/Dual out to two resonators to twin tips, leaving the stock resonators up front. Slight change in backpressure that will lose you a little power, but no bitching from the wife.

There are plenty of threads. Search is ur Friend.

From what ive seen for the set up for the 07 550i there's only one muffler with duals coming out then a connector pipe coming to the other side with a dual tip attached. ..

These motors are very backpressure dependent. Tune is optimized for a specific backpressure. When you change the exhaust system you will affect backpressure. Determining the change is something you can do by instrumentation on a dyno. Adjusting the flow restriction to get back to the backpressure the tune was created for will get your power back. It's not enough of a change for me to go through the trouble. Especially if it makes it louder. Honestly just don't want to hear it from the wife.

What if it's a portion of exhaust pipe that is connected to the main part near the belly and redirected to the non exhaust side with a dual tip added. Would that interfere with back preasure?

It is a little "throatier" than Oem, but I would not consider it loud by any means.
