My '05 525i jet black/beige, steptronic, premium, cold & premium sound is in production and due to be done on Oct. 5. (Hoping to take delivery mid November). My question (pardon me for not knowing) is ...is there a compass feature equipped on e60s that don't have nav? I am assuming that at $47K auto would have this but didn't notice it in the manual I downloaded?

I am assuming you are in US because of the packages. I think your only option is to get the rear view mirror with the compass as a dealer installed option.

It's on page 23. $295 plus installation.

gman:
Welcome to the forum, enjoy. I think you might have to trade the garage door opener for the compass in you change your rear view mirror. Can anybody confirm this?

I confirm:
If you want the rear view mirror with the compass, you can't have it with garage door opener!!

it's logical to me not have a compass without nav. the 5 series is not an off road vehicle. nav gives you a point of view "North" and current location.

I get your logic however I have become a bit used to it in my other vehicals especailly when directions include something like "head north on rt. 206" and the roads are not clearly marked. If I have to choose, I'll stick with the garage opener.

I'd completely forgotten; however, now I'm mad about the lack of compass again.

The compass in the rear view mirror is an accessorie. If you don't have the garage door opener you can get it...
