Default quick question

So About a month and a half ago. I got my transmission replaced in my 08 E60 after it suddenly conked out on me. After paying $1200 I got my car out the shop and about 4 days later after hearing a lot of clunking coming from under my armrest when I accelerate I take it back to the Stealership. Technician takes it for a spin and after about 5 minutes tells me I need to get my driveshaft replaced and its gonna cost $400 more. At this point im f#@&ing furious. So I shop around and get a few more opinions, until finally a reliable guy told me that I need a new center support bearing/flexdisc aka guibo. I'm waay relieved because the part is not too expensive so now im interested in DIY and im wondering on what scale is the difficulty level of this. Or any hints or tips??

It is very easy to do. I don't know if there are any DIY's. Just get some ramps and there are six bolts taht hold the driveshaft to the transmission. In between is the guibo. As long as you don't have an X drive then they are all pretty much the same. It's like 3 bolts for the driveshaft and 6 for the guibo. No need for DIY, just common sense. On E60 you'll probably need to take the underbelly cover off if it's not already.

Anyone know what might be a few other signs of a failing guibo? What about vibration? I seem to have a little going on in the car and tire balancing is becoming an old thing... I feel it most often when I go up a hill and apply the gas. Just reading this post and thought well maybe...

Get up and look at the guibo. If anyone has less than 150K mi. on their car the flex disc (guibo) should not be going out. It's made out of the same material as bushings, motor mount, transmission mount etc.
