Hey guys,

As I've posted a couple times before, I'm not a big fan of the climate control set-up. I have always thought it should just be based on the temperature settings. In other words, jack it up to 80, the heat comes on. Jack it down to 60, the A/C comes on. No fooling around with the vent settings and that heat/cold bar thing.

Anyway... When you use Auto, does the Snowflake / A/C light always light up for you? Even when it's cold in my car and I push the temp up to 80 and set it to Auto, the snowflake is on. I just don't want my A/C unit ALWAYS running and therefore the chance exists to blow out the condensor one day. Those are expensive. I know you can manually turn off the Snowflake thing, but that just seems odd that it always comes on.

It's always on because unlike other (lesser) cars, the E60 controls the humidity as well as the temperature in the cabin. In order to do that, the compressor needs to be online. I'm not sure if the compresser clutch is controlling the actual on and off cycles -- all I know is that the automatic setting works perfectly for me and I've never felt more comfortable, climate wise, in a car than in this E60.

Same here but...
I'm also not a big fan of the vent settings and that heat/cold bar thing... When I want to use it manually (Not on auto mode), I'd like to be able to adjust things fast and the vent settings windows is somewhat difficult to navigate,,, specially if you are driving

Not really. Its a hold to the left and then turn. It remembers the last position you were at which for me is always the vent temp. I leave the rest to the auto mode. It works great.
