I am a newbie here just to get that out of the way. I have been lurking around the forum for quite some time now but I figured it's time to start participating in the festivities. I have an 06' 530i on the way which is scheduled for port arrival on 3/18/06 in California. I have read all these topics and posts about CIP updates and what they solve or don't solve. Before I take delivery, can I request the CIP be updated to the most current version or is this already done before delivery? Thanks for the info.

I would say only update if you're having problems, others will disagree with this.
I think I'm still running an early version : something like 11 or 13

The way I understand it is that the car is delivered with the CIP version that the dealer received it with. They will update it under warranty only if you report that you are experiencing a problem that is addressed by a more current version. They don't automatically do it before delivery unless you want to pay for it.

My advice is to take it as is since updates have been known to cause new issues in some cases and you may never experience any of the problems.

I appreciate the help. Im trying to make sure I have all my ducks in a row before I take delivery. Does anyone know or have a new 06', what version CIP is installed that comes from the factory?

I just hope that my new E60 is just as good or better than the experience I've had with my E39.

I've got a million of them. what do you think of the latest? "This is how we dance on Sprokkets" - From SNL. Use to totally crack me up.

Figure its perfect for a car forum for a German made car.
