I know a lot of you complain about the ride quality with the RFTs, but I never thought it was too bad. That being said, I have about 6K miles on my car and the ride harshness seems to be a bit worse now. The tire pressure is fine all around. As these RTFs start losing some tread does the ride quality start to plummet? I assume this would be the case due to the stiffer side wall, but just curious if anyone else here is experiencing this.

Which run-flat tires do you have? Are they getting noisier?

I (fortunately) drive the 525i, which, due to it being the entry level E60 (in South Africa anyway) does not come out with RFT's. What a joy! I have driven a friend of mine's 530i with RFT's, and the difference in ride quality is just unbelievable!! My friend is now considering fitting non-RFT's to his 530i.

I would be interested in knowing....
I have Bridgestone RE01, somehting like that. The tires are brand new and my car has 17k miles on it.
I was planning to sell the tires, put snows on the stock wheels and buy a set of 172's for the summer.
Or I may just buy aftermarket wheels and snow tires and keep the stock 124's with RFT.
I drive about 4,000miles a year so it will be a while before I buy new tires if I don't switch the RFT out now.

I have 19 inch 121s on my car now with RFT. I just put them on a few weeks ago and noticed a difference in the ride from my 18 inch wheels with all season tires on them. The RFTs do not seem to "grip" the road as well as the non-RFTs. I seem to sense speed easier now too with the RFT. I do like the firmer ride with the RFTs though. I have not yet decided if I like or dislike the RFTs. I will be taking them off in Mid October and going with my 18s for winter though.

RFT are garbage. I hate my RFT and will be switching to non-rft when they wear out.
While I think the idea of RFT is nice, I don't think it has been perfected yet. A lot of people that I know with RFT have problems with them. Not just BMW people, but MB and even Honda people I know have problems with their RFT and they hate it.
