I going to do some work on my 545i and ordering parts like power steering fluid, reservoir, pump pulley etc, but I see that there is two different types on Realoem. I am sure that I have active steering and I need hydronic fluid but wondering if I have dynamic drive also. My reservoir has the leavening sensor underneath, checked the dynamic drive pulley and it is crazy expensive compared to active steering pulley. Why? How do I find out I have dynamic drive or not? Also what is the the best way to drain the fluid out of the system? I am going to disconnect the supply pipe down by the pump? Will this be enough to get out most of the old fluid?
Thanks
Thanks

Does your reservoir have "CHF11S Only" on it? if it does then you need hydrolic fluid. I just added some to mine over the weekend. You can get soem at NAPA or have a shop orde it for you. It will be cheaper than going to the stealer.

The best way to drain the system is to use the time tested "turkey baster method" - use a turkey baster to suck the fluid out of the reservoir until it's dry as possible. Unfortunately the power steering system is a sealed system and has no drain plug, so even after you replace the parts it will be easier to use the same method to bleed and remove old fluid that remained from the system. You may need a few liters of the CHF 11S fluid for this.

Thanks for advise
Yes I have CHL-11s on reservoir but my question is what is my system just active steering with dynamic drive becouse Realoem list them seperatly and there are defferent part numbers like reservoir and pump. I am going to do the alternator bracket gasket and some other leaking gaskets as well. As I see replacing that alt bracket gasket requires removing power steering pump (well not complitly but putting it a side)and I thought won't it be easier to disconnect number 2 hose by the pump drain fluid out in both ways and remove that aluminum pipe along with reservoir that runs in front of engine to make more room to do other things?

I'm gonna be using this DIY this weekend it seems like it'll get a good portion of the fluid.
