I got a question about the auto tranny in my 2004 530i. Tonight when I got home and put the car in parking and turn it off and removed the key. I notice that the light next to the "P" in the tranny was lit up. I dont remember that the light would stay on. I'm sorry to ask because this is my first car with an auto tranny.

Is the light next to "P" suppose to stay on when you turn off the car and remove the key and then lock the car?

Thanks
Aaron

If u wait for 15-20 minutes and go sneak up your car (do not open door or unlock with remote), peak in the window and you will see the light is out. Goes out when car enters sleep mode. Open door and light will go back on.

Thank you. Tomorrow morning I will check before I unlock the car.

Yep - this is fine don't worry about it.

I also lights up when you open the door before starting the car.

It's cause the car has 'woken' from sleep mode - and is waiting for you to start it up (like whenyour TV is on standby )
