Question on 535i throttle response

For you owners of the new fabulous 535i -- how is the throttle response? How fast do the revs go up when you blip the accelerator? I've been driving a 3.0i Z4 (with the N52 engine) the past 2 weeks and its revs freely when you blip the accelerator. In contrast, my 2004 530i does not and you actually have to "step" on the accelerator for a half-second before the revs build up.

This is my subjective response to your question. IMO the throttle response is excellent, and as good or better than any unmodded BMW I have driven. Mine revs freely and quickly. I do not feel any significant turbo lag when I am driving in "D" mode. I feel none when I am in "S" or "M". None. I now have over 5500 miles on mine, and as I have indicated in other threads, the car keeps getting better (quicker).

Do you the automatic transmission?? If so it really depends how fast the tranny downshifts to give you power... if the tranny doesnt realize you need power and doesnt downshift the car will lag since its in low rpms but in the 550i even when it doesnt downshift i still have enough low end torque to get me moving right away... if i have it in Sport mode the tranny down shifts really fast and holds the revs longer.

One of the beauties of this twin turbo engine is the low end torque. The engine makes available 300 ft/lbs of torque at 1400 rpms. The car accelerates.

I just want to clarify that what I meant by throttle lag. From a dead stop and pressing on the throttle, that was where I felt the lag. At driving speed, I didn't notice the lag.

I would like to know how good or bad it will be on a TT engine.

Actually, what I was asking was answered by enelrojo... he mentions that the engine revs freely and builds up instantly... Unlike my M54 which takes a while for the revs to build when you step on the gas.
A good test would be to put the car in neutral and blip the throttle... does the engine rev to 4000rpm immediately or do you have to keep your foot on the throttle for a bit before it hits 4000rpm?
I'm looking forward to a test drive sometime in October when (hopefully) 6MT 535i are available for test drives. In the mean time, I'll probably test drive a 6MT 335i just to see how the engine responds.
