I was thinking the same and today i did a remapping. The car now like a bullet!!! A lot better than before, but i still can feel a lag before 2k revs. Before remapping the lag was about 1 second, now 0.5 second.
But after 2k revs - ...
Now I definitely can live with this.
+1 I've also had a remap and I concur with what you've said - the lag isn't as bad but is still there. These days I tend to drive 'around' the problem...

Stick a sprint booster on, and that'll improve things a little more as well. The remap is certainly the most impressive difference, but the SB will add a little bit more. Even on my 535d with remap and SB there is still turbo lag, that's just the nature of the fuel/engine.

Good advice! Thanks! I'll try to find it in the web.

Hi Guys. i have a question to E60 530diesel drivers. I bought BMW 530d E60 '04. i am worried about acceleration of my car. Acceleration of my car looks like a spring. As if when i press the accelerator pedal the spring is squeezing (speed is growing up very smoothly), and then suddenly explodes (circa after 2000 revs) and abrupt acceleration. is this normal, what do you think? does everybody have the same?
Thanks!
This is certainly not what I find with my auto 525d. Max torque starts at 1300rpm so there is no sudden "rush".

Other small manual transmission diesels I have driven have been all or nothing though and with a very narrow power band - this isn't something that I would have expected from a 530d though.

Regards,

I got mine from here; http://www.europerformance.co.uk/pages/pro...;sub_category=1

That is the correct one for your car, assuming you have an auto and not manual.

What you are describing sounds exactly like my car, also a 530d auto. I think that part of the problem is that in ordinary mode the gearbox sets off from a standing start in 2nd gear and nothing seems to happen until the turbo kicks in. Nowadays I put the gearbox in sport mode to pull out of junctions so I can avoid the problem of pulling slowly out in front of other traffic and then suddenly taking off like a scalded cat!
Exactly.

The behaviour described is normal-ish in a diesel (I get less of the "rush" described by the OP out of my 530d). Mike O makes a good point about it normally starting in 2nd and remember also that there is that torque convertor in the auto trying hard to keep your gearbox from exploding from all that torque. It makes my 530d feel slow intially but it sure gets you moving. I've also found that this behaviour in my car means you quickly end up running at silly speeds without realising it.

Too right ... "bing" "What was that noise?", says my passenger. "That's the noise it makes when I get to 100mph to remind me to slow down"
