Default PVC heater control valve recall

I have a 2007 530i with 120k miles. Car knock on wood runs perfectly. No lights and no codes

got pvc recall. Anyone had the recall done and problems afterward.

I am afraid to have the dealer touch the car. And concerned they'll mess something else up while the car is in for the recall. Recall says the car is a fire hazard issue

Notices for the PCV recall started going out 2 years ago. I had to have mine done TWICE because the part they originally used for the recall didn't solve the problem. There have been no reports on the forum that I am aware of of subsequent issues due to the recall.

I visit my dealer anytime I can if it won't cost me anything. I generally get a brand new bimmer something as a loaner and a free car wash, lol! I have had NO issues since having mine done. That said, dealer quality varies, so your mileage may vary too, as they say.

I wouldn't worry because if they break something, they'll need to fix it. I got the first recall done a while ago. No issues. I'll get around to the second one, eventually.

The latest version of the recall now places a fuse in that circuit and no longer replaces the angle heater valve unless it is damaged. The fuse goes into the e-box, so that's not too hard to get to -- certainly easier than getting under the intake manifold. My 2006 530xi had the angle heater replaced years ago with the first recall, but the wider problem has continued to happen, so BMW decided to just fuse that individual circuit. This way, if the angle heater fails, it will blow that fuse. The recall kit is about $5 and rather than take it to BMW, I just did it myself. It isn't all that hard, but you do need a micrometer in order to measure the wire diameters and find the right wire to cur and put the fuse into. Rather than crimp the connections, I soldered them instead.

Here is the latest SIB for the recall -- dated 8/22/2022.

PROCEDURE

Install P/N 12 51 5 A6A 0E2 “Cable Harness Repair Kit” as per Repair Instruction 00 72 067 “Retrofitting
component protection and checking function of angle fitting”.

Or:

1. If the heater has already failed, then replace the blow-by-heater (positive crankcase ventilation heater elbow) as
per Repair Instruction 11 61 390 “Removing and installing / replacing elbow fitting.

2. Install P/N 12 51 5 A6A 0E2 “Cable Harness Repair Kit” as per Repair Instruction 00 72 067 “Retrofitting
component protection and checking function of angle fitting”. Always use the recommended special crimping tools
described in the instruction to ensure the repair is made correctly. See special crimping tool information below.

Everyone -- Thank you for the replies and posting the service bulletin. This is awesome. I am going to put a new thread up with the backstory on this 530i. I think you'll find it interesting.

A little late to this party, but I had the dealer perform the recall on my wife's 2007 530i several months ago and have had no issues whatsoever.
I don't typically use the dealer for service or maintenance but am happy to have them perform perfunctory recall items at no cost.
At 115k miles I'm coming up on some likely maintenance issues like valve cover gasket and multiple fluid changes.

thanks for the reply. Having this service performed this coming Friday. But I do hate having the dealer touch the car.

I made my appointment for first thing in the morning and was out of there in an hour. I declined the car wash so as not to introduce swirl marks into my carefully polished paint, and they complied.
