I have been able to solve many of my problems on this site, so thanks to all. But I have not seen any posts about my current problem.
My front suspension feels loose when turning and braking, especially at low speeds. My BMW repair center (not a dealer) said the ?Push Strut Bushing? needs to be replaced, for $590.00. What is a Push Strut Bushing? And that it would not require the car to need an alignment.

I do most of my own work (brakes and shocks), would this be at the same level for a do it yourselfer?

If he's talking abt replaceable bushing then it's probably this one:

Part # 13.

If you have a press then it's really easy to do.

I can't really think of anything on the front suspension that can be replaced w/o altering thrust angle (allignment)
$590 sounds pretty steep for a bushing work.

I changed mine for less than 60$ + 40$ for full alighment
Im not saying it must be the same price there but it should be around 60$ with parts

looks like what they used to call the thrust arm bushing. Typically associated with hard-to-diagnose shimmys and such, and a loose feel under braking. With your price quote they are probably replacing the entire arm rather than just the bushing, which technically isn't necessary although the ball joint on the other side of the arm could also be worn.
