Purchased a 530i last night
Hey all,
I purchased a 2005 530i last night with 130,000km (about 80,000 miles). Its a great drive, however it needs some TLC.
I will hand it over to the Mechanic today for some maintenance, and then I need to do some work on it. There are some minor annoyances.
The passenger side mirror does not automatically fold in (I suspect the motor is damaged/disconnected etc). I want to fix this and then enable the auto close/open feature through coding.
The CD/DVD drives do not "recognise" a MP3 CD currently.
When a CD is inserted, the Entertainment menu should allow access to CD, but it remains greyed out, if that makes sense. I have inserted the CD in CD as well as DVD slots.
The passenger side drink holder does not pop out, and its cover is also broken. I want to re-attach the plastic cover for this and then somehow fix the drink holder.
My steering wheel makes a very annoying noise, when I adjust its height, or when it comes back down after key insertion. Any idea what needs fixing? I suspect a lubrication job?
It comes with 2x diamond keys, and I want to "upgrade" it to new style FOB at some stage.
Apart from this, it will need some work restoring its shine.
It sounds like a lot, but thats perhaps usual chores when buying a used car in Saudi Arabia
and maybe thats why I did not buy a car for almost 5 months. Well hopefully, I can do the car up a little bit by bit.
