Proper idle speed
Hey guys, so my 550 has been acting a little 'weird' recently. It feels a bit sluggish. I've had an oil change done and replaced my filters not that long ago. I've notice that the car trembles a bit when I have the wind/ac totally off. it has a deep rumble, the motor seems unstable/trembles. The car is idling at a needle/hair under 500rpm full stop in drive, my M3 idles at around 600-700rpm full stop,
any clue?

Years ago, I had a '85 6 series coupe. Like you, after having the oil changed, the car exhibited the same symptoms. As it turned out. The oil dip stick was not completely plugged in causing a vacuum leak. effecting the oxygen sensor function.
It may just be due to a vacuum leak??

If the idle is below, I would check for vaccum leaks such as oil cap, crankcase hoses, etc.

You may need to put soapy water on all the hoses and connections to determine whether there is a leak. Sometimes a visual inspection won't reveal the problem.

On my car the rpms were acting weird until they did the vacuum line (brake recall). Now it idles perfectly at 500, A/C off. 750 with the A/C on.
