Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone else has had this similar issue. I live in a gated community that has two different gated entrances that both use the same clicker. I've programmed the gate clicker into one of the buttons on the rear view mirror, and at first it would only work on one of the gates (which is strange because, as I said, these gates use the same clicker. It is less strange, however, because this same thing occurs with my grandmother's 335i). However, now it doesn't even work all the time, only occasionally so I have to leave the actual clicker in the door so I don't look like a dumbass if I'm sitting there and the gate won't open.
Has anyone else encountered issues with the programmable buttons? Think maybe that one button could have a loose connection? (because the other button with my garage programmed works perfectly)
Thanks for the help guys, this is getting pretty frustrating

i cant get it to work with the gates at my community at all. it only works with my garage door 80% of the time. sometimes if i reposition the car in the driveway it works. i thought it was the garage door opener itself. maybe not...

Mine works pretty reliably but it does have limited range. If I'm not pointed at or within 25' of my garage door it doesn't work. I have a small spare garage door remote that works at 3x that range so it can be annoying. I've also programmed one of the buttons to one of my HomeLink devices in my home but that makes the limited range even more perplexing.
I recall a post on on another forum with a mod to increase the size (and thus the range) of the antennae but that was for an e38 740 where the button/transceiver was in the area of the overhead lights. Maybe one of our techno-savvy posters can investigate ... Bruce are you listening??

My experience with my two Liftmaster openers. One has very good range, always. The other one programmed on
the same button has limited range. I have to be right at it to make it work.
Problem is at the receiving end, not the transmitter/homelink.
Most rolling code systems have to be taught a new/reprogrammed transmitter via a learn function at the receiver.
