I'm opening this thread to generalize discussion about the latest progman version - 27.02 (or 27.2 - that is what my SA told me, didn't sound right).
The biggest thing I've seen so far is my gas mileage for "normal" (e.g. everyday for me) driving seems to have dropped by about 3-4MPG! I also now have this annoying Service Engine Soon light on my dash, which is accompanied by an "Increased Emissions" iDrive warning. I reset this with my OBD-II adapter, but it came back the next day. Its trapping for running rich at idle.

I got the "latest" software installed about a month ago. My current mileage is about 14.5 mpg. Used to be around 16 mpg.

Has this been confirmed by taking independant readings, or are you just reading what is being displaying?

That's what I was thinking too. We've seen in the past that there's often a large discrepancy between what the car displays as the average MPG and the actual MPG. Try calculating things the old-fashioned way to see if things match up...

My Ride: '04 545iS 6 spd, bought new via eBay, 11/05; Blk/Gry, Cold, L7, PDC, BMW Rear seatcover for pets.
First "Bumwa" was a new 1971 2002. High performance 5s since 1987. Beamer motorcycles too, currently on an 07 BMW K1200 GT; also a Moto Guzzi 1000 SP III.
I didn't ask which version was installed but it was updated in September and my 545 6-spd mileage still averages 20.9, as it always has. Have never checked it by hand--at $3.57/gal, I'm afraid to...
However, the last Progman update (ostensibly part of the Active Steering replacement) has screwed up my add-on Bluetooth BMW module phone service. As noted in other posts, my signal strength display bars decrease was first to be noticed. Now, the module blinks instead of having a steady blue light, it is not building the phonebook list to the system everytime I turn the phone on; instead it is relying on a past list, and is NOT updating for new addtions. Also, I think actual broadcast strength is down and when I call one of the new numbers, everything has to be done manually...including disconnect. No more pushing the iDrive knob to disconnect. SA says he's sure new Progman no longer includes the BTUM option, and admits that other early models are losing strength bars also, but he thinks phone service otherwise is strong and complete. I don't use the phone (in the car) enough to tell.
