I'm hoping the CIP v25 will enable the POI "Search By Name" feature that is so badly missing from our navigation systems. BMW said it would work in the LCI version and I hope its simply a software tweak. This will finally allow my UK 7 char postcode search facility to work like I want it.

Our non iDrive BMW owners who are able to upgrade their navigation systems at home via the v29.1 OS upgrade CD have now got this feature enabled so it can't be impossible for us to receive this via the Progman update.

Interesting that on my pictures, on the Progman 25 Nav display, there's another arrow in the Top Right Hand Corner, which is missing in the larger photos (thank you by the way).

I wonder what it is(n't)?

Oh and what is "VI+"?

Oh...oh... and are the Nav search functions improved as per LCI?

ABC
I think the arrow is there even in earlier versions. When you are getting directions, it points towards the destination (regardless of route - as the crow flies). If you look at the icons to the left of the map, the picture with the arrow is the only one with navigation on.
I agree, the arrow is the direction of the destination and is only visible if a destination is active.

Maybe it's me (or maybe it's my lack of knowledge of the German language) but I don't really see any difference between the pictures other than the main menu screen having a different look. I find it interesting that the two main menu screens have the exact information (time, etc.) on the bottom of the screen. Could these really be genuine pictures or are they some sort of illustration or simulation?

After some experiences with Software 25 here in Germany, a little summary:

Nav.Prof works faster and more stable, for example: it ist faster to select the targets;

mp3-songs don't jump to the next (with Nav.Prof);

by starting the car, you see the last screen, not the main menue (also with Nav.Prof);

Until jet: it is a great (the best) update for E60/61, it works very well, special with Nav.Prof.

Sorry for my bad english, i hope, you understand what i mean.

Thanks for the heads up.

Have you "found" any new search facilities in Nav Pro?

No.
I reported from experiences by different people with the software 25.
Today, my 545i receives the Software 25. After that, i'm able to describe my own experiences.

Dank f?r das Info. Ich hoffe, da? es in die VEREINIGTEN STAATEN bald kommt. Auch Ihr Englisch ist weit besser als mein Deutscher!

Thanks for the info. I hope it gets to the U.S. soon. Also, your English is far better than my German! (Using Dictionary.com translation!)

Now, my 545i has the Software 25.

With Software 25, it is possible to search by name the destinations, like restaurants and hotels. After that, the destinations who are listed, includes the letters or the words which you got. The first destination in the list is the nearest one.

"Verkehrsinfo Plus"

Part of BMW Assist, it could be called TMC+... or TMC professional...
TMC is received from ONE radio station, therefore VI+ is much better.
I must say it actualy works very good and very accurate. It is even so, that after deverting route, and the original is free again, it will guide you back to the original route... Perfect.
