V-Info plus is another important function offered by BMW Assist. Using the Controller and the Control Display, you are able to call up information on traffic congestion under the ?Verkehrsinfo? (?Traffic info?) menu item, receiving the latest information on the length of and reason for a traffic jam as well as the last exit before the end of traffic congestion on a motorway, etc. This information comes through official reports updated every 10 minutes, including information and data provided by thousands of sensors along the Autobahn and motorway. These sensors monitor traffic density and speed round the clock, transmitting their data without the slightest delay to the Traffic Control Centre, where the information received is collected and evaluated. This ensures not only immediate recognition of a traffic jam even while it is still building up, but also shows how it is developing. This information then goes to the driver as required either as a text message, in graphic form through a map, or as voice information. And whenever the driver changes his route, the navigation system calculates the new route the driver is taking and presents this information accordingly.
