I hope the mechanic doesn't know where you live because he still has the original key and he might steal the car back
Also, here in NY, you can be arrested for stealing your own car,
For example, if you park you car in a garage in the city for a few hours, come back and use your spare key to exit the lot and
not pay the garage fee, you have just stolen your own car because technically, the garage has the key to your car and they
are the ones in care and custody of your vehicle.
Just like if your car was stolen from the mechanic's lot, his shop insurance would be responsible for the claim, not your insurance
company.
But don't worry, you did the right thing.

Not yet I ordered that sensor which they broke. Next week they will change it and see what happens after. Cops don't call me anymore. They gave him my sisters phone number which was on drivers license record and I think they gave him my adress too. He said that he's gonna go to the court and will bring all broken parts as a proof.

Hi folks,
A lesson for everyone on the site. Make sure we know that the garage can handle the work. I hate the stealers so much but sometimes when its a difficult job we gotta go.
This is the stuff of your worst nightmare. After 3 days i would have been under his ramp taking a look. The cops were fakes that is no doubt. Who authorised this guy to take it to the dealers? not you. So then he owes the dealer cause he sub contracted the work to the dealer.

Get an independent specialist in to do an engineers report and then get a lawyers letter to this guy and tell him your gonna sue him for wrecking your car and for having to pay to put it back to perfect. Tell him you are also looking for money for hiring a vehicle until yours is fixed.

Contact the dealers and tell them you never authorised any work to be carried out by them and that you never authorised the asshole to subcontract to them. Give them 2 days to get your spare set of keys back and if you dont get them back send a lawyers letter to bmw Canada.

Dont let them turn the tables on you here, cause you aint done anything wrong. In fact if i were you i would go and see the police myself.

Good Luck
