Hi
I have searched through the forum and know that this is a common topic but have a simple question, which pieceing together bits from various topics cant get a full idea where my problem is.
The car has the UK Media Pack, prof. sat nav is included (with DVD player) and thus I understand that so is the stereo (prof.). Looking through the forums, it seems that prof. sat nav means that MP3s should be playable.
My car is a March 2005 535d and I have tried data disks with MP3s and the CD option remains greyed out. Was this included in the 'new' software people seems to be referring to? How do I find out and if it is requiring an upgrade where do I get it from?
Is it a software update that I need, or should this set up work and thus I should experiment with CD burning formats.
It would be great to get the MP# working because where I live the radio stations suck.

a) If you have latest or any PROGMAN after version 18 then you can play Mp3 IF it is enabled by Dealer
b) If you have older PROGMAN version pre 18 then you need to update it to the latest version and ask them to enable MP3
either ways your vehicle is CAPABLE for playing in both DVD and Single CD Slot just needs either of the two steps above as applicable.

your dealer can and also somewhere in this forum there is a description how you can self check you iDrive version . If you just take your vehicle to the dealer which you will need to enable MP3 anyways , they can tell you if you can get it done without SW update.
