Guys,

I have a 520 petrol, and my engine revs since this morning between 800rpm and 1100rpm, it alternates between these rpm. with a frequence of about 2 seconds.
Like 800 .....one second .....1100.....one second.....800

Yesterday the idle rpm's was around 600 rpm

Is there a problem with the lambda sensor? Does anyone had the same problem?
I like to try to solve it myself before I go to the dealer.

by 800 and 1100 rpm, i assume you mean below the 1 mark and just a bit above the 1 mark. On my car it always idle at about 1100 rpm as well, so i assume its normal. below that and the car will kind of vibrate like its about to choke and engine stall...

Sounds more like Idle Control Valve/Sensor being a bit dirty. Part 8 in diagram below. Clean with brake cleaner or electrical component cleaner; should be an easy DIY job, but I don't know your specific engine that well.

You are welcome. However, hold your horses. There is a new version of software going around (the details were posted here, where something similar to what you describe is going on - look for the highlight on post #1.

If the car is definitely hunting (i.e. the revs DO go up and down), then look at the ICV/ICS. If it's just the needle shaking but the engine rpm are stable, I think it's the problem pointed at in the SIB above. Good opportunity to have the latest bugs - erm, I mean software - installed
