I am having problems with my gas meter in my cluster. With no indications of problems or errors, the gas meter is now stuck at 30.1 miles left per tank regardless of whether I have a full, half, or near empty gas tank.

Is there any way to "reset" the gas indicator or will I need to drop by the dealership for the fix?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Just thought I would ask before I make an appointment.

You can reset average mpg and average speed, but I don't think you can reset the miles displayed before filling the fuel tank. When you add sufficient fuel, the total mileage is computed from the average mpg.If no other displays are in error,I suspect that a sensor is not reading the quantity of fuel in the tank.It looks like a dealership visit.

Just unplug the car from the batteries. Also you can check your fuses.

I think this should be done for at least 20 minutes to allow proper discharge of all voltages. Maybe others can chime in.

Press "BC" on the indicator arm for 2-5 seconds, and it would reset.

I believe he's referring to the turn signal stalk. However, AFAIK, you cannot reset the range using it.

If you go into the iDrive under Car Data / Info you can reset it there. You can reset range to destination, avg MPH and avg MPG there too. Just a matter of going through the menus, good luck
