My Ride: Currently: (3/1/06) 2002 530i black on black prem, sport, cold, xenon.
Here is the link:

From post itself:
"Apparently there is a "Rear Strut Campaign" that definitely affects the 5 & 6-series and if I remember correctly maybe the 7-series vehicles. My dealer said that there are 200+ vehicles impacted by this campaign, and that the fix is happening at the VPC. It seems like dealers DO have the capability to search by VIN to see if your car is impacted."
More:
"....Now they have to wait for parts from Germany and replace it on all the cars. Of course, the cars that are already sold will have priority. He gave me a ball park figure of like 10 days."
-----------------------------------------
I am contacting my dealer now, if anyone can get info please post.

You know, I just took delivery of my 550 on Thursday, and had the car rebalanced due to a steering wheel shimmy. picked it back up tonight, mechanic said balance was out on 2 of the tires, and repositioned the other tires. car STILL has a vibration and shimmy at low and high speeds.. very odd.
I wonder if this is related?

I can't tell if all e60's are delayed or just NJ VPC (guess that doesn't make sense). It would be great if you can find out anything from your dealer....

I'm still waiting for a call back from my SA. I also notice that most of the posters are from the east coast now i'm wondering if this affects west coast?

If there is a strut campaign it shouldn't matter where your VPC is. And I would expect the struts on the E60's to vary (sport vs. non-sport vs. M vs. V8 or I6). I can see maybe the 550's and 650's using the same struts but even then there may be two (sport vs non-sport). And the 530i and 525i weigh about 300 lbs less than the 550i so I would also expect diffent components. We need more information.
