Hello guys i have 06 bmw 530i. it discharges battery and couldnt find the problem. I bought the car like that.
when I check with the multimeter. settting 10A. i get the reading .21 (continuous drain) when everything is shut from + terminal . is it normal or it should be less.
I tried pulling out all the fuses but still no luck.
thanks for your help

how long have you had the car? How old is the battery? Are there any other electrical componenets (non-OEM) on the vehicle?

Read my experiences with a similar problem here: https://5series.net/forums/topic/998...nt-find-cause/

It was ultimately the TCU (Telematics Control Unit) that needed replacing as it would wake up intermittently and not allow the car to go into sleep mode so I would get a high battery drain warning every morning.

This will be hard to diagnose. Then it is obviously an OEM part that has to be the culprit. Very well, it could be the CCC or M-Ask or the TCU or another electronic componet that has a short.

Do you receive any error messages? Do you have a scan tool to use to read any codes? If so, what are the errors that appear?
It may be that you'll have to find an independent shop or a dealer that will be able to diagnose the problem appropriately for you.
It could be that you one of your software programs has a bug and will need to be reset or updated.

In the meantime why don't you disconnect the terminals on the battery and leave them off for a few hours. Reconnect them and see what happens.
If this does not help, you can add a trickle charger (1.5amp) battery tender to the battery so that it doesn't constantly lose the power until you get it diagnosed. Wait for others' opinions. Good luck.

I agree with the others that the battery is probably fine and something else on the car isn't allowing it to sleep properly...

I had the same problem with the TCU draining the battery. After several visits to one dealer, the second one, motowerks in bloomington, mn found it was because water was leaking into the trunk and shorting the TCU. They resealed the rear window and it has been fine since...
