My Ride: My ex-ride: EU '08 LCI 520dA. Space Grey, Sport Seats in Black Leather/Fabric Anthracite, Sport Steering Wheel, A/C with Extended Features, Hi-Fi Speakers, Cup Holders, Cruise with Braking function, Folding Rear Seats, Xenons, Park Distance Control.
According to German AM&S the 4.8i V8's have a marginal electronic (DME) problem (5-, 6- and X5 models).

With extreme temperatures below freezing and small air humidity it can come to an electrostatic unloading, which digital engine electronics (DME) thereby in the electrical system announces an overvoltage, what in the worst case to dying the engine lead can. A BMW speaker confirmed opposite car engine and sport.de these data. Mainly concerned however vehicles are in the USA.
Besides it pointed out that it concerns here not a safety-relevant problem and was started therefore also no official recall. The BMW customers of the models concerned from model year 2007 received only a letter, in which to the problem one referred. With the next workshop stay they could let an additional ground strap at the injecting borders of their vehicle install then free of charge, with which the error message is repaired. With the vehicles after September 2007, which were not delivered yet at customers, this technical action would already flow ex factory into production also.

It depends, are you counting the actual recalls or are you including all the reposts of the same recalls?
