Maybe we have a solution. Is the paint problem only on the trunklid? If so, just have them replace the trunklid. This is more expensive than a repaint, but you will be getting a factory paint job, and your car will be 'like new'. That's what I would do.

I agree you should not have to settle for a 'repaint' on a new car. One of the first things a dealer will do when you resell/trade-in a car will be to inspect it to see if it has been repainted. If it has, it may affect the resale value of the car. If you can't get a new car, at least insist on new body panels.

Good luck!

Maybe the paint is bad because it has already been repainted. Rather than actually a factory paint fault.

Photos never capture the real picture, for this type of problem. But I'm sure the Germans would be excited if you suggested it was a factory problem.

What's the odds on finding out there was some damage in trnasit, and they tried to hide the problme by having it repainted in the US.

Holy sh*t this looks awfull.. How is it possible no one at the factory or the dealership noticed this..

The guy doing the predelivery wax should have seen this!!! This is unbelievable.. It isn't just a bit bad painted but very very bad painted...

I wouldn't accept this and ask the dealer for another car (if they can)...

I agree, I cannot believe this made it past factory, VPC and local dealer inspections!! Even if it was raining when the dealer got the car and made delivery to you, there is no way this should have been missed. I cast my vote for a new car, though if it involves re-ordering and waiting, I would be just that much more p'd off.
