For the first time I see today that my Pro Nav display was permanently split, i.e. map to left, assistance window on right. I tried to revert back to full-screen map mode but strangely I can't remember how to do this.

The manual says that you can turn the assistance window off by clicking on it and choosing 'Exit Assistance Window', but this only makes the assistance window go blank; it doesn't give me back my full screen map.

So I'm stuck now and can't remember how to go back to full screen display.

Can anybody give me a clue?

Regards,

Hans

I'm afraid you are wrong, at least with regard to the UK version I have.

I have had the car from new, and for exactly one year now. I use the navigation all the time. Always the map takes up the full width of the display, until you approach a traffic island or junction when the assistance window opens automatically to show a closeup of the approach to the junction and the last few metres' distance before the next required turn. After this, the assistance window closes automatically again and the map takes up the full width of the screen.

Never before have I had to look at a blank 'window' on the right of the map. But now I cannot make it go away.

I've had a UK car from new too for over a year and never have seen the map in full screen. You can have 2 maps displayed but never 1 on the whole screen.

I've never heard of the map filling the entire screen but there have been people in the past who have asked the same thing:

The screen is only one screen on the menu page.

It never had the capability to make the map full screen.

No one has ever posted a photo of this happening.

So it?s all in one?s imagination.

Not to beat a dead horse here. But last week when I picked up my BMW and the sales rep gave me a crash course on how everything works, everything on the display was full screen (NAV, ENTERTAINMENT). It stayed that way until I figured out how to activate the split screen. When I couldn't make it go away, I figured maybe there was some special way to turn it back off until I read this thread. The electronic techs at the Niederlassung told me that what I saw was normal and that the display is programmed to be permanenty split screen for NAV and entertainment functions.

I've also noticed that on my NAV current position display, east and west appear to be inverted (If I am driving east, this display will show I am going west). All other navigation displays show correct movement. Since this appears to be a programming error I'm gonna take it back to the shop and ask about future software patches.

BTW - for those that don't understand German, "Niederlassung" pretty much means dealership.
