Hi merklebob,

If you just go to New destination, then get Information (e.g. on rest stops), then go back to the map without actually specifying a destination, the symbols will be displayed for you all the time (until you switch off the engine).

You need to be on 5 mile scale or less to see the symbols though.

I'm pretty new to this Nav system (Sat Nav Pro) so this could be complete rubbish ... but ... in my random playing I seem to recall that at least some symbols for 'places of interest' also appear on the map if you 'enable' the 'i' symbol to the left of the map view screen (i.e. select it and remove the strikethough)? I guess they would only appear at certain levels of zoom also. If I'm not correct here what does this 'i' option do?

Does BMW actually publish a flippin manual for the Navigation system.

I got a booklet, but it had one page of info and many pages of disclaimers.?
All of these features (like how to show rest stations on the map) should be documented, rather than us all try to find them out - like some cheap game "cheats"

Surely there should be a manual up on the BMW internet site ?

Page 130 answers my query. Check out the manual in the info section of this forum

I'm not on that CIP level, so I don't have that functionality, but it sounds like it could be a worthwhile shortcut. Probably added because of customer questions like these
