I hope this is just for the US market and not the world
What are are thinking

The latest iteration of BMW's all-singing, all-dancing plutocrat limo will roll out the door starting at $81,125. That sum will get buyers the 2009 750i (including $825 for destination charges), but those who are looking for a bit more legroom in back will have to pay $85,025 for the 750Li. Production for these models began last month, but don't expect to see them on the forecourts of your local BMW Center until later this spring.

The rest of the BMW lineup is also getting a nudge on pricing, with the average MSRP climbing by 0.7 percent. All pricing increases are effective January 1, 2009; so if you're planning on gifting yourself a M5 or X6 for the holidays, make sure you do so before New Year's.

Does this also affect CPO or Pre-Owned BMW's, or just new ones?

Does not matter one jot what they put on the price list.

Something is only worth what someone is prepared to pay.

Look on the bright side, the 750i starts at ?93,000 ($126,000) in Germany. With the kind of specification the American 'base' models will have, you'd be looking at around ?110,000 ($153,000). You'd be looking at over $200,000 for countries like Holland and the Scandinavian countries. Places like Israel and Australia would be more like $300,000.

So you can imagine it's hard having sympathy from this side of the pond for anyone having to pay *only* $81,125. Never mind cops buying BMWs, for those price the pool boy would be driving one.

Yeah I saw this yesterday... Great Idea, lets jack up the prices on top of the 3-6% we already tacked on for the 09's when our sales are down for the year 25%, and AUDI is one of the only car makers that is making any gains...
If not for Mini BMW would have had even worse sales this year.

The genius from England /Scotland that they brought over to run the NA operations keeps on surprising me with the egg head moves he keep on pulling.

Any one want to go over/under on if he makes it threw 09 still at the top?

Not as simple as you think. The German price you quote is inclusive of 19% MwSt and other taxes, whereas US pricing is always tax-exclusive.
