Spoke to a sales rep at BMW of Manhattan about the possibility of trading in my 545 towards the 550i..He said that the dealers won't have pricing until about August or so. Also said that we're most likely looking at a 3% price increase from the 545. Anyone have any more info on the release of the 550i?

BMW of Manhattan is almost always NEVER negotiable. I've been there 3 times when I was looking to buy. Try Westchester BMW ask 4 Bernice. Worth the drive. I negotiated over the phone. The 3% increase on the 550 sounds high to me.

I only called BMW of Manhattan to find out more info on the 550i; usually they are pretty up to speed on new product delevopments. I've never gotten good quotes from them, however...I use Difeo BMW in Tenafly and BMW of Bayside when I get my cars...Both of them have a good combination of low prices and good service departments...
Thanks for the heads up on Westchester BMW...Want to trade in the 545 for a 550i, so I'll give them a call also...How is the service dept. over there?

curious what the compelling reasons are that would make you consider such a switch...obviously the 30 or so extra ponies and additional torque would be a big reason (oh and the 550 badge will be nice) but I would have to believe there is something more to justify the $10k to $15k that such a transaction would cost you.
To me the extra power and a fresh start with another 4 years of warranty would be worth about $5k...but $10k - $15k is just too much (for me)

With the awesome lease deals out there, it is tough to wait for the 550i. I jumped all over the 0.001 MF and 61% residual on a 3 year lease (12k/yr) and am doing a ED in late March.
