I think the TAX in Denmark is 180% on luxury cars, so the figure would be around $165,000 still.

Probabaly completely wrong on that though!

The Tax in Ireland is 30% on cost of car and extras on any car above 2 litres. They call this Vehicle Registration Tax. Then when they have this figure, they pop 21% vat on the total. Then we have the most expesive road tax in Europe which is about E900 per year on a 2.5L car.

So will BMW Denmark sell me a tax free 80.000 USD M5 for export?

I then pay 22% local VAT and excise tax at 3% of the car's value and end up paying 100.000 USD which is less than the cost of my 530d when new. Car will have an EU-wide warranty. This should also work for other EU countries - did anyone on here buy their BMW offshore? I did this once succesfully with a Renault Laguna - buying it new, tax free in Denmark but went through a Danish broker rather than a Renault dealer.

Hi

It looks like it may be possible to get a tax free bmw for export since you have done so with renault laguna. Can any bros here verify that? May not be a bad idea to import bmw from Denmark. PoleApart, can you advise who is the danish broker you deal with for your renault laguna? any website to check them out and any idea if they export to Asia countries? If you got any other automotive brokers that can export tax free cars in europe, please do share with me also. May seriously consider importing from europe if it worth the effort for my next ride.

Is the usual deal in Denmark not that all expensive cars are used as a taxi for the first year (taxi drivers can buy them w/o tax and sell them after 1 (?) year). Very profitable business for the taxi drivers (strictly licensed taxi drivers only).
I have not seen an M5 taxi in Kopenhagen yet, but who knows....

p.s. nice list by now. As mentioned, equivalent to the BigMac index or maybe a list just showing which counties are suffering from tax and/or environmental terrorism.

Hi Shrike,

are you saying that all Danish taxis drivers can buy any cars tax free and sell it off after one year?

Cool, so they get nice taxis right? Here in HK is either Toyota Crown or Nissan Cedric.
