Hi guys, I want to prepare for the winter, I have a 545i with currently 285/30/20 and 245/25/20.

I was thinking for the winter to go for safety, so I was wondering, what would you guys recommend as the best setup for the winter with winter tyres? What size should I go? And of course if you have any cool looking 'small' rims do post them =p

Look at BMW winter wheel offerings for a guide. Review the tire dimensions and specs. Look at the wheel specs (offset, width) under "Light Alloy Rim".

I think 17-inch is the smallest you can go due to the larger brake rotors on an E60 V8. I run 225/50-17.

If you are going with aftermarket wheels, do not rely on the dimensions alone. Get a fitment guarantee from the seller, or do a test fit.

You don't have a lot snow there, right? If can skip a couple days due the snow, then drive on same set up or just use all-season tires.

I called Tire Rack, they set me up with a wheel/tire combination what was the perfect size for winter driving. 225/50-17 maybe? Quick & easy.

If you have your stock 18" wheels, get four 245-40x18 Dunlop M3 3d's. They will fit on staggard sport wheels. You will not lose the sport handling and braking, and they will take you to the slopes with no problem.
