In UK unleaded fuel is 85 pence per litre. I did some sums, this works out to $6.06
per US Gallon ( if my calculations are correct! ). What is it there?

I would never use anything less, though.

In my neck of the woods the price of premium has stayed a steady 20 cents above regular grade since around US$1.30/gal for regular.? So the percentage increase of my premium is actually been less than for those buying regular.?
? Yeah, that's me lookin' for the silver lining.

Judging by some of the prices here, I'm not sure the "chicago differential" is that high anymore. I paid $2.59 for 91 octane yesterday in Schaumburg. Perhaps because its a suburb and not actually Chicago?

It takes my friend US$150 to fill up the tank of his new jag XJ with premium fuel. And he has to fill up his tank every week! Damn stop-and-go traffic everywhere here in HK.

We're still very lucky in the US as we have relatively low gasoline prices as compared to the rest of the world, so it's difficult to get excited about someone paying 12% less per gallon in Chicago when Euros have to pay 100% more per gallon.

Im not very up on the workings of the combustion engine, but I believe that not using the required high octane fuel can also cause your cat converter and O2 sensors to fail earlier as well. With that said, I use 93 for 3 out of 4 fill ups. I also do not buy from Exxon or Mobile. They are the biggest in the US. I feel if a lot of people do not buy from them, that they will have to lower prices. There is a movement by a lot of people to do this. If the largest gas supplier in the US has radically less sales then they are used to, they have to lower prices. If they lower prices then other must follow suit to stay competitive.

We should get out our violins now....? In San Diego, the prices for the 91 octane special formulation that must be used in SoCal due to EPA and state emission regs ranges from $2.85-$2.95/gal (including fed, state, county and city taxes).? As I recall, the highest gasoline prices in the nation oscillate between San Francisco, San Diego and Honolulu, HI from time to time.
