This was already a feature of the pre-LCI. My May 2006 does the same.
Mine opens the boot without doors unlocked - tourer with automatic tailgate obviously makes a difference there !

I think it's a market driven feature and not to do with either saloon or touring model. Obviously in the UK they feel that we cannot be trusted to have the boot opening before the rest of the car is unlocked. Or maybe it's so you don't accidentally open the boot without knowing by just leaning on the one switch of the remote whilst walking away from the car.

I have a UK Jan 2006 model and it doesn't do that. I can open my saloon boot without unlocking the car. However I don't like it that way and want it like you have it because more than once I've opened the boot lid in error because of the keys being inside a tight jeans pocket. I'll check if that 'feature' can be enabled.

That's strange - mines an April 2006 and it's never done that. I have had 2 Audi A6's in a row and they both allowed me to open the boot with the remote without unlocking the car first.

I'm afraid my days of wearing tight jeans are well and truly over and so I don't think I will suffer the same issue. Although you do have to hold the button for a second or two which should reduce this likelihood.

I'd be interested to know if you find out that it can be enabled. I haven't' seen it anywhere in the handbook or the iDrive.
