I would be ok with a used pump as long as all the lines have been connected and fluid was still in the system while it has been sitting around. If it has been sitting outside with lines disconnected or fluid drained, that's a problem. If it has been sitting on a shelf not exposed to the weather, how long? A few weeks on the shelf is probably ok. A few years and the seals are probably dried out.
I'll inquire with the service rep, but im certain he'll say it's been stored properly regardless of how its been stored...
He has it coming in tomorrow at 9AM. I'll go check it out.

The machine shop would need to grind off flush the remaining material on the housing. Then fabricate a new mounting hole from virgin aluminum and weld that to the housing. Should be doable with the right guy - that's the problem.

I believe it is possible to weld aluminum, though you need a special welding machine, and someone trained to do it.
