Power Steering active suspension high pressure leak under floor
2006 BMW 550i with every M-Sport option available ...except the badges / ' facia' / M-Sport Name; an insurance bargain.)
Massive Power steering fluid usage / 1 Qt = 10 city miles. Right side engine / PS reservoir area covered w PS Fluid mist. I found the fluid running out drain hole under rear passenger door. But edges of plastic tray show evidence the whole floor plastic cladding may be soaked with fluid.
My first thought is a high-pressure line to rear active suspension or brakes. Tray shows no signs of damage; not a scratch.
Besides dropping it off at a dealer with a 'Blank Check', does anyone have an idea? I'm a good mechanic with good automotive skills, even remanufactured a V12 Jag.
This BMW is a different animal.
Is it worth dropping the plastic cladding, degreasing and cleaning the whole mess to see exactly what I am dealing with? It is not exactly warm in Michigan right now. OR, is this for a BMW professional only?
\Thanks in advance for any kind advice, Martin
