There is a serious problem with the Manual 6 speed 530i. While accelerating in first, second, or third gear, the vehicle loses power between 4000 and 5000 RPM?s. I know I?m not the only one with this problem. BMW is aware of this problem and has no plans to correct the problem. Is there an arbitration process to return a BMW?

I have no problem with my steptronic 530.. Tonight I use the DS mode at a traffic light and accelerated full left with a nice tssjerp and the car accelerates to the redline without powerloss or anything..

Steptronic and a Manual 6 speed are not the same.

I know but since the engine is the same you would expect the same problems. Your the first one on this board with this problem.

The engine is probably trying to catch up to the vehicle's weight.

I am receiving documentation today from my local dealer that they received from BMW North America. Perhaps the problem is only on American spec vehicles.

Isn't this the same engine used throughout the BMW line?

It is and in my manual 330 Ci I never experienced this problem too.. Maybe it is a US thing like dwightb said.

I find it hard to believe that this is a widespread problem. Are there any USA manual 530's out there that are not experiencing the problem?
