can I suggest that while test driving the 525xi that you also test one with a bigger engine, the e60 is a big car and the x drive takes extra power so you may find the 525xi a little sluggish. But with that said if speed and acceleration isn't your thing then that just might be the right car for you, but you won't really know unless you try even 530 just to see the difference and decide whether its worth it. I love my 530i and the power is enough for me but many on this forum will tell you that you have to go 8 cylinder but I don't think thats true.
Thanks for the advice. For the time being I'm not too worried about speed, I really like the color combo on this car and the price is reasonable so i dunno if I'll find something more appealing in the 530xi's.

I'll take a look though if they have one in stock.

Thanks again to everyone for all the advice btw!

If it has the CWP, make sure you take a look at the steering wheel. A lot of us (2006 owners) have had issues with the steering wheel discoloring or becoming deformed in some way. Most of us (from what I gather) have had no success in having it replaced under warranty, and others have tried to clean it with mixed results. The OEM wheel from BMW is ~$575, so if you are not happy with the way it looks, be ready to part with a few C$.

Good luck!
Ooo, that could have ended poorly if you hadn't told me, I had no idea that was a potential issue! Thanks a lot, I'll make sure to take a good look at the steering wheel.

Good Choice!!
I had the same feeling before I bought my 2007 525XI, I am very happy with my decision. Look for these things
1. Vehicle exterior (for scratches , dent etc)
2. Ask for service history
3. Make sure the recall list if any
4. Interior (Broken leather etc)
5. Owners history (1 owner is preferable)
6. Change the micro (carbon filter) - Who knows the previous owner could be a heavy smoker
7. Check I-drive service warning
8. Shop for 3rd party extended warranty
9. Incase of NAV look for DVD
10. Make sure you have all the accessories that come with car (like jack, spare tire, manual extra keys etc)

Thanks for an easy to read comprehensive list, when I go for the test drive (Probably Monday as I'm currently still negotiating with them about the trade in value of the van) I'll print out the 2006 options list along with your post and all the other advice that preceded it.
Also, they have said that it could be eligible for an extended warranty so i will discuss this with them on the negotiating table. Thanks!
