Possible to drive on 18" rims in winter?

Size won't make a difference at all, especially a minor change such as 17" to 18". I coincidentally changed last winter from 18 to 17 with the same brand/model winter tires and there is no difference whatsoever in handling on snow/wet/ice. Only advantage of the 18's was that under dry road consitions they provide a slightly more direct feel to steering when pushed...
So it's basically cost vs. cosmetics for you.

Only downside I see using 18's as a winter setup is that the tires are going to be more expensive. Even if the 18's are a little wider the difference in traction should be negligible. But hey if you really like those 18's go for it!
I was seriously considering getting some 19 inch OEM 128's for the winter until I saw the price of the winter tires in that size...
Currently using the stock 17 inch 138's on Blizzaks WS's.
