Hi, I just noticed that the 910AM radio station on my 2004 525i has quite some static noise. The other AM stations I listened to and all the FM stations I use are OK. I live in Bay area of California, and my previous cars (Accord and Nissan Murano) have no problem of this.

Is this a known problem?

Thanks.

Can't say that I have. Actually, I don't recall ever listening to the AM band in my E60. What do you listen to on there anyway?

I can't think of anything worse than static on one AM channel!

My only use for the AM channel was for traffic and weather...

Well, 910AM in the bay area has some ridiculously shameless talk show hosts, and I occasionally tune in just to get myself truly amazed by how far these righteous hosts can bend for ratings (and hence money I guess).

I actually feel it is no less important to invest time to fix a radio station reception quality problem than big $ on modifications to an otherwise perfectly OK car. I don't mean this to your post, but just in general terms I have to confess I am somewhat surprised by the amount of energy on this forum to do modifications on a perfectly good car. Never owned a BMW before, and maybe I will get used to this energy eventually, and maybe even have enough money to try out how it feels to do my own modifications.

I ran out of energy already. The more crap I put on my car, the more I started taking off. I am back to only a few mods now on this current car, modest ones at that.

Give it some time, you might catch the bug!

My previous BMW had the same problem which was eliminated when the rear window tint was reworked by the tinters. They trimmed a slight amount of tint over certain antenna wires in the rear window. Good luck.
