Pontiac GTO Kill?

Could I have killed a Potiac GTO with my 550i today? I am not very familiar with that car but it looked like a GTO, however, it did not say it. The rear badge just said "6.0". It definitely had an upgraded exhaust: the pipes were protruding a bit, slightly angled up and chrome. The car was definitely an auto. Like I said, I do not know much about Pontiacs and I am not sure if it was a true GTO or if it was a lesser-engined (I am not even sure if they have one) vehicle in that body style.
I was riding by myself and the "GTO" had 2 guys. They were just having fun enjoying the night when I pulled next to them. I was not really looking for a race, but I glanced at them because the guy was giving the car gas in short spurts and the noise was rather loud. When I glanced at them they were both looking at me laughing with thumbs up and gesturing to race. I did not tell them that i would but knew that I definitely would (while he kept giving his car spurts of gas, which actually made quite a nice sound). The whole thing probably lasted about 15 to 20 secs when the light turned green. I had already moved my lever into sport mode. As soon as it turned red on the other side (it was dark so it was easy to see the light turn red for the cross traffic), we both nailed it. It looked like he might have had a bit of a jump but somewhere between 70 and 80 I was about a car and quarter ahead of him such that I was easily able to move into his lane ahead of him. I stopped accelerating and he pulled into the right lane (my previous lane) gave me the thumbs up and went ahead. Just clean fun, no egos hurt (I think).

You'll have to decide if you killed a GTO. If you don't know if it was a GTO, then we can't know. There is no doubt, however, that you killed something. On paper, it wasn't a GTO kill though.

Don't forget the the RT time was with the six speed, it (with evidence on here to support it) seems the step may be slightly quicker and perhaps closer to the GTO times you post. The times are close enough in any event that it even on paper it could well be a GTO kill, especially if fq1 has the steptronic. I'm also quite glad (or perhaps disappointed!) that fq1 didn't decide on "fq2" as his screen name ![Tongue](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/tongue.gif)

I think that you are supposed to give a cite when you use "someone" else's argument.
I doubt it was a GTO since the Pontiac was ahead at 70 mph or so and then the BMW came by. The data argue that a GTO would have continued to pull ahead IMO Step or not.
