You guys think yourself lucky - 1 bedroom flat in an area nice enough to have your E60 outside ? $500,000. To be in England, in the summertime...

65k for 5 properties? where is that? in Miami???

Just to put things in perspective here in Hong Kong a (new) 750 sq. feet apartment 30-45 mins away from the CBD costs HK$2mil~. (256.4k USD)

A nice house 3000 sq feet with garden / pool and about 10 years old in southside/peak costs HK30mil minimum. (3.846 mil USD) Mind you although it's detached the next house is only 1-2 meters away.

Take your net monthly paycheck and divide it by your E60 car payment (not any other cars payments) to get the %age spent on your E60. And be honest-it's anonomous so you are impressing no one.

I think your calculation instruction is incorrect. It should be "Take your E60 car payment and divided by your net monthly paycheck..."

Not if you buy the assets and then later sell it and lose less money than what you would have paied by rent.
