Please urgent ADVICE needed on LCi headlight upgrade

Hi
Some advice would be greatly appreciated.
I have been advised by a vendor that a special 8+3 adaptor plug should suffice for conversion to LCI halogens from pre LCI halogens. With some reprogramming. No new LCM.
It doesnt feel that simple.
Please some advice. I want to do away with the hideous pre LCI halogens.
