Hey guys,
Most of you on the forum know my other post about my costs at the local body shop. I really like this guy but he is charging astronormical prices to install my mkit from trinity after his original estimate was 850-1000. Please post your location and amount to install your mkit paint/labor etc...I plan to take this to him tomm and show him that he is really not being reasonable regardless of how cool he is.
Thanks
Jason

I regretted lowballing the paint/install job. You really get what you pay for, the paint was good for about 2 years until peeling/pitting set it. Plus, it was very prone to chipping.
Good luck in any case.

I guess it doesn't help much since I am not in the US, but I paid about 1250 euro for an OEM M-tech kit which was painted and fitted by the dealer...

A&L Auto Body in Palatine, IL. Also known as iND seen in my signature. The paint job was fantastic, just look at my gallery photos. I have had the front on the car for a year now and no pits, chips, fading, etc. So for those that say "you get what you pay for" thats bullshit. You can pay $5000 for a paint job and if you take it to a guy that isn't talented and uses bad materials it'll still be garbage.
Paint, Install, and minor modifications for fitting perfect included:
Mtech side skirts: $220
Mtech Rear: $380
M5 Front: $420
Total: $1020
Remember, I'm in IL where prices are high. California has the cheapest paint/install pricing in the country I think. So considering that, I got a fair deal.

and dealers just farm the jobs out to local paint shops who they pay with YOUR money AND make themselves a profit, too! You got robbed, too.

lot's of cheap places in SoCal, but also lots of crappy places. finding a good shop is actually not as easy as you would think. lots of shops here don't even bother painting in a booth.
dealership aren't always better, sometimes a lot worse. i had some parts (not my bmw) done by a guy that does paint/bodywork at a big mazda/dodge dealership. he was REALLY cheap and was referred to me so i figured that he'd do a decent job. when i went to pick up the car, i found out that his "shop" consisted of tents set up at the back of the dealership lot. all the painting was done outdoors. yikes!!!
where ever you go, make sure to visit their shop and check out their work first.
