If your fluid was empty (as in really empty or dry), then you probably now have air in the lines so even though you've refilled the fluid resevoir, the brake system needs bleeding to remove the air...

If you have to ask, then bleeding the brakes isn't something I think you ought to attempt to do by youself. It usually takes two people or one person with some specialized equipment to perform. Also, there's always a chance that a bleeder valve can break off if there's rust or corrosion on the threads.

Again, from the sound of things, I'd recommend you get them bled by a professional...

In case you're not convinced about what I said above, take a look at the following document:

I think a more important question is why the resivoir was empty... You may have a more serious problem causing the loss of fluid.

Sounds like you may have a faulty Brake Booster. If your fluuid was empty enough to have to refil with a newbottle then its possible your booster may be leaking on the inside and typically when you have a booster failure or leak the brake pedal will be very difficult to depress to engage the brakes.

+1 There is air in your brake line. It needs to be bleeded out.

I don['t get it. Your car should be under warranty. Just take it in.

Based on model year yes, but he could be past the 50,000 miles marker... He doesn't give enough info to know for sure, but the earlier advice to seek professional assistance sounds right to me...
