Default Please help.

Hey guys,

Below is the message our new forum member asked me to post for him. Please see if you can give him some suggestions. Thx

I Bought a 2006 530 XIT (E61) a few weeks ago which came with one key fob that did not work. The radio would not store channels either.

I purchased a new key fob from BMW Calgary and they were unable to program it. Thus, I checked the Diversity Antenna Amp and it was a mess and covered in corrosion. I carefully cleaned it off and replaced the unit. I also replaced the blown 5a fuse. I still can not solve the key fob issue.

I have tried the following steps to program the key with now success:
1. Open the car with key.
2. Insert key in ignition to position 1
3. Remove the key from ignition, press the unlock button and center button three times.

Next, I tried to start the car with both keys and it would not crank.

The moon roof, complete entertainment and info system, back up lights and maybe a few other things don't work.

The car is now dead in my garage. Battery is new and 100% charged. All the known fuses in the fuse blocks are good.

Replacing Terminal 30 G Relay did not solve the problems.

I also checked the harness specific to the DAA and all seems okay.

Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

Best Regards,

Larry

Did you buy it private or from a lot? Either way, depending on if you were warned of these issues in advance, I'd try and return it. Sounds like a car that is going to be a ton of problems.

When you say it does not work, what do you mean? Do you mean that the car doesn't start but the key opens the doors, bring lights on, or the car does not respond to the key at all? Do you have push button or regular turn metal key? To your knowledge has the car ever been started with the previous key?

Sounds to me like it is a flood car.

Agreed. Bought 'a few weeks ago' in Calgary. I heard there's a database of VINs for flooded cars somewhere.
