So the following image is from a 2008 550i on eBay. Is this the "control center" for the optional 20-way seats on all the 2008-2009 528/535/550 sedans? If so, can someone explain how they compute 20 ways?

Thanks!

The round dial is for the lumbar support.
Next to it, the two buttons for the side bolsters.
Below, the small one is for the extension in the front, then comes the main (up/down, forward/backward, tilt) and the backrest (forward/backward, headrest up/down) and the two buttons on it for the upper half ofthe backrest (forward/back).
Last, the memory buttons.

Here's each control, numbered, each number allows you to control the seat in a certain direction (left, right, up, down).

I'm not familiar with #5, #6, #15 and #16 since I don't have those controls.

I believe Iceman has detailed their actions already...

Wow, great, thanks guys. That all makes sense. It must take a week or more to find the perfect position with so many options.

Page 46 of the manual buttons 5-6 are for shoulder support...It increases/decreases the concavity of the upper 1/2 of the seat...

***great pic Frank

15 & 16 change the width of the lumbar/low back area...the seat will "hug" you around the abdomen....

Yep.

It takes one or two weeks, that's correct.
Once you have found the perfect position for you, you will love your seat and don't want to have a regular seat again.

More?

Buy an Audi or a MB and you'll have "thousands" of buttons all over the cockpit to press and play with.
