My Ride: 530i 2006 alpine white decota beige interior, GPS, Active steer, Adaptive lamps, rear blinds electric, side blinds
Default

Hi all

My current 530i is just 9 months old.But I like the new face lifted 5 series and wanted to go for a new 530i model as it has the refined looks and added features like electronic shift gear, reversing camera etc , besides a power enhancement of 17 hp .But the dealer kind of put me in a dilemma with an offer for a new 540i -model year 2007 ,being one of the last units left with him for a good price. Please advise me which one to go for and why. I dont mind the difference in price between the two models.

Guys pls help.

thanks
Jay

The new 2008 LCI 535 or 550. why would you want the 540? you just said youself you like the looks of the new faceflift. Plus the 535 has more power than the 540 despite the missing 2 cylindars.

The new 2008 535 model is not made available in our country. They said it may not arrive in the near future. And 2008 550 is too heavy for my wallet to carry !

Hah! I understand about the wallet! But EBMCS03 is right, it seems the real issue is you prefer the new LCI look. Even though you may get a good deal on the 540, I suspect you'll soon regret the decision and still want the LCI look. Go for the new 530 in my opinion.

ask your self how many % do you like the LCI look, if itis more than 50% then get the LCI.
If not go for the dealer offer.
For me I go for the LCI, you will be driving it for years so get the best looking 1.
If money is in the way then do what I do save and keep driving the 1 you got and get the new car later.

I agree with that too. In addition that, LCI has some technological advancements over the pre-LCI model.

The new looks and features of 5 are good indeed, but at the same time the feel and character of v8 is something to be experienced. This is the confusing part. They say V8 is the best engine BMW has ever come up with !

I don?t fully understand. If the 550i is beyond your means at the moment, why are you not keeping a perfectly good 9 month old 5er and saving up for an updated model perhaps of the 550i when you can really afford it. Getting out of a 9 month old car is always a bad deal financially.

Thanks mate for that piece of advice. But at times I find the temptation hard to resist, especially when it comes to BMW and -----.

Get the 540 , with the money you save add some of the LCI stuff after ie headlights etc . The V8 is the key issue IMO

Good luck
